Rider, 46, Pretoria.
Stephanie is 46 years old and a mother of three children, aged 24, 18 and 11. She has been healthy throughout her life, except for the occasional cold. Steph was shocked and horrified, when she went for her first ever mammogram in December 2009 and was told that a biopsy had to be done as there was a "suspicious area". Five days later she got what she thought was a death sentence… she had cancer. There has been no history of breast cancer in her family. Steph thought that she was way too young to get breast cancer, as she's got very small breasts.
Steph says "The 'blessing' part of having had breast cancer and surviving it is the change in my life - I am a lot stronger than I was, my priorities have changed.''
