Beatrice Brits

Rider, 58, Vanderbijl Park

Beatrice's motto in life is to "live life to the fullest every day and to be thankful for the second chance God gave me, and not take anything for granted." Through the 2011 ride, Beatrice hopes to have touched at least one person's life, giving the message to never give up and to realise that diagnoses is not a death sentence.

Beatrice was diagnosed with breast cancer on 05 January 2007 and had a mastectomy of her left breast followed by four months of chemotherapy. The road to recover was not easy with many thorns in the way, but with the grace of God, Beatrice was able to get through it. "Self-examination and early detection is what saved my life," says Beatrice.
