1 day to go before the Journey!
The "Journey of Hope", breast cancer awareness ride kicks off in Cape Town on Saturday the 17th. 5 Of these ladies are from George and one of them, Adrie, is a friend of mine. They are all breast cancer survivors and 15 ladies in total, are undertaking a journey from Cape Town to Johannesburg, via the West coast. Their main aim is to spread the word of early detection of breast cancer and to raise funds for breast related causes due to this disease. Between myself and my team we jumped in and arranged this morning, all in one day. The muffins, juice, table cloths, cups, flowers and gift for the 5 ladies, were all sponsored. I was amazed how everybody we approached, reacted so positively. My friend Adri wrote the theme song for "Journey of Hope", sung by Romanz. She also wrote an Afrikaans song, called "Stukkie Son", sung by David Fourie. Obviously most of the English speaking juppies from JHB won't know these artists, ha ha. I played this song and we all stood in a circle holding hands. This was so moving and many cried at the impact of the words in the song. I contacted a customer/friend of ours, Ena Cilliers, who hosts many ladies camps and inspirational days, to pray for these girls. This made the morning even more special. Needless to say, the morning was a huge success and the vibe was unbelievable. This was my way of spreading a little happiness and hope. We all have some kind of issue/burden/cross to bear in our lives and at some stage we will all conquer that specific thing. Each and every one of us are a survivor in some way or the other. I read this quote on the "Journey of Hope" website and want to share it with you all. "The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination."
