Being selected as a Rider means representing the Journey of Hope for the whole year, not only during October. Part of their responsibility as a Rider is to create awareness and to raise funds for the breast cancer education and awareness campaigns held throughout the year. We have several outreach campaigns earmarked for this year, and it would be great to get support for these events.

Please note that the cost to participate is R100 per person per ride. All the funds raised will be used for awareness and education campaigns of the importance of early detection, as well as to provide support to people in need with breast cancer.

Please make the deposit directly into the Journey of Hope Bank Account:

He has been the official photographer of the Journey of Hope bike ride for the last three years, documenting the emotion and determination of both breast cancer sufferers and survivors who have undertaken the countrywide tour on two wheels.

Van Deventer is inspired by the ladies' energy and positiveness – often in the face of adversity. Half of the proceeds of the exhibition will be donated to cancer charities. Visit his website at www.tiaanvandeventer.co.za.

09-15 October - Support the Journey of Hope Ride

The Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Ride aims to spread a message of hope and encouragement in an upbeat, positive and unique manner though the journey of a group of Riders, all breast cancer survivors, who traverse the country annually on motorcycles to allay the myths surrounding breast cancer. The aim of the campaign is to create awareness of the importance of the early detection of breast cancer, which is key to survival, and to bring hope in a positive way. The ride is a demonstration of the sheer courage and determination of survivors who don their leathers and helmets, and take to the roads as they take on the challenge of breast cancer - head on, positively and without waiver. During the ride Journey of Hope teams visit local communities, schools and in particular reach out to women in the rural areas of the country. A new group of Journey of Hope Riders (this time amongst them the first ever male Rider) will again be travelling across South Africa through Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North-west and back to Gauteng on Honda Motorcycles 09-15 October 2011.
