Journey of Hope, 4-11 Oct 2012

Journey of Hope 2011 Riders and Team

Rest in Peace

Claudia Philane Zwane, you were brave and strong and touched the lives of all those around you with your radiant smile and positive attitude. You will be sorely missed. (1983 - 2011)

About the Journey

Fifteen riders. Fifteen breast cancer survivors. One message: hope.

From October 9 to 15, 2011, the Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Ride will spread a message of hope across South Africa. A diverse group of women and one man, all breast cancer survivors, will traverse the country on Honda motorcycles, promoting optimism and encouragement among the people in the towns, villages, and cities they visit. Their goal: refute myths surrounding breast cancer and raise awareness of the importance of early detection in a unique and vibrant way.

When the Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Ride was initiated in 2006 it was the first of its kind in South Africa. The purpose of the Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Ride is to spread the message of a positive attitude and of hope regarding breast cancer, in a unique and vibrant way. This is achieved through a volunteer group of breast cancer survivors travelling across South Africa on motorcycles and sharing their stories of Hope. At the same time these dynamic role models highlight the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

This year we will also be joined by Tex Neveling, the Journey of Hope's first male breast cancer survivor.
